LinkedIn rankings are now newsworthy?
First of all, a sincere congratulations to Italian IT consultant Carmelo Cutuli, who has now made the top 30 most connected people on LinkedIn. And I’m all for creative use of press releases, but is this really newsworthy?

Scott:
I am laughing at our wonderful differences of opinion. It is definitely something I would do. I am embarrassed that I didn’t think of it first and look forward to issuing one myself when I achieve what Carmelo has. Maybe I will issue one now that I am the 19th most connected on Ecademy, 4th in the United States and 2nd in New York City. Sorry Scott, I can’t help myself. :-)
Congratulations Carmelo!

Hi Scott
Hi Billy
Thank you both and overall congratulations for your Articles on SocialNetworking especially Billy whose Yahoo! group I’m subscribed at.
I understand your point of view and I’m going to explain better …
Social Networking, up to now, is still an english thing … most of networks (Linkedin, Ecademy, Ryze etc.) are Uk or Us based so a little far from Italy :o)
I thought that could be very motivating to lot people know that also Italy is involved in this things … so I founded BizBureau (first italian Social Network), The Unofficial Linkedin Users Club of Italy, and when I reached Top30 position here in Italy I communicated the news locally and abroad.
This is my personal contribute in spreading ‘Social Networking’ everywhere :o)
In his Linkedin’s profile Thomas (Power) writes that he wish to be’the most connected man in the world’ … I think that these words inspired me to launch a web based press release.
Best
Carmelo

Makes sense, Carmelo. I suppose I should be very happy that social networking sites are being raised to such a level of importance in people’s eyes! ;-)
Again, congratulations.
