As an applied linguist/English teacher I've always wondered what sort of craziness contributed to people saying that 90% of communication is non-verbal. If this were true, no one would study language - we'd just study facial expressions and the like. Anyway, I agree 100% that face to face meetings are not always necessary.

In today's world, both types of communications have their relevance and more and more of us are getting comfortable with doing a lot more without meeting in person. In just last 10 years I have observed that we are more receptive to conference calls and video conferences as opposed to sitting down face-to-face. With webinars, there is less incentive to attend trade shows.

I agree that there is nothing like meeting someone but I no longer feel that it should happen every time and that I can not get produce results if I do not meet someone in person.
